Amazing to see this production run I remember when we were in single digits and many of us thought we will see 8,10 or 16 and now we have 24th

Will it stop now? Possibly, will we see another FFG design possibly that's the exciting phase as we don't actually know and it's what makes PLAN watching unique

Number is painted, but whether or not commissioned is not clear.

With China's recent military white paper calling for operations to secure/defend Chinese interests globally, I wonder if PLAN will stop building medium size frigates like the 54As and go to 6 or 7k ton designs to maximize mission capability and long endurance.

What if the 054A is used to serve as the backbone of the "within First Island Chain" PLAN fleet together with the 056? Are 24 054A's sufficient?

IMO they will build another 12 more, so each fleet would be have 3 flotillas (36 Total).

Further, we know that 056 will touch to 60 means all 3 fleets would have 5 flotillas and will complement 054As for First Island Chain, will be quite sufficient...

Is it me or the pennant number location is different? It seems higher up on the bow than was the case previously.
Some are exactly there:

But others do seem a little lower:

You'd think that sort of thing was a standard ;loction measured easily on the hull.

I believe the first photo's pennant number (577) is photoshopped. 577 belongs to the 054a+ batch (with revised bow). As far as I know, all the 054a+/++ batches seem to have the pennant number painted roughly uniformly.

I could be wrong, though, about my original observation that 579's pennant number being painted at a higher location: I looked at it some more, and now I'm not so sure.
