Some nice images. Finally, the deck crew of have helmets. Looks like the funding is starting to trail down to these smaller, everyday items after the important big purchase and R&D budgets are meeting acceptable levels.
Also some nice shots of torpedo firing. CIC also looks properly nice and crowded, though they've lit up the lights again for PR photos

Hmmm....

Pics number 13 and 15 show senior officers crowding around an operator pointing to something on his computer screen.

PLAN should learn from the USN and install wide screen monitors so that the officers on deck are able to see all the pertinent data without having to do that.

It's not as if China DOESN'T make wide-screen LED tv's....

Nit picked....

Looks more like future captains getting a technical briefing about the specifics of how a particular sensor/weapons system operates and/or being taught about certain traits/quirks of the system.

Having a mirrored image on a big plasma screen might not be all that helpful if you are learning about how to pull up/manipulate the data in the first place.

By all accounts and purposes it looks like Type 054A is still going on and the number will be well over 20 units

Fine FFG with helicopters and is a all weather and all round FFG which is very valuable

Well, if they launch any more, it will cetainly be more than twenty in the class because twenty Type 054As have already been launched, and I believe by the end of this year, 19 of them will be commissioned and active. Right now 16 or 17 are commissioned and active. Here they are by pennant, name, shipyard and launch date:

530 Xuzhou Huangpu 30 September 2006
529 Zhoushan Hudong 21 December 2006
570 Huangshan Huangpu 18 March 2007
568 Hengyang Hudong 23 May 2007.
571 Yuncheng Huangpu 8 February 2009
569 Yulin Hudong 28 April 2009
548 Yiyang Huangpu 17 November 2009
549 Changzhou Hudong 21 May 2010
538 Yantai Huangpu 24 August 2010
546 Yancheng Hudong 27 April 2011
572 Hengshui Huangpu 21 May 2011
573 Liuzhou Hudong 10 December 2011
547 Linyi Huangpu 13 December 2011
575 Yueyang Huangpu 9 May 2012
550 Weifang Hudong 9 July 2012
574 Sanya Hudong 30 November 2012
578 Yangzhou Hudong 28 April 2013
576 Huangshi Huangpu 28 September 2013
579 Sanmenxia Hudong 30 September 2013
577 Huanggang Huangpu 25 July 2014

Heck of a run...and I would not be surprised to see at least two more.

16 in service, seems 2 new for end of year, 22 planned right now.

I presume new begin replace 053H3 in 10th Dest Flot/NSF or 6th Dest Flot/ESF.

053H3 again useful but transfered to 2nd front line units as Frigate Sqn, 053H2G realy less powerful with old missiles, HQ-61 in more have no reloads ...

we don't know if there will be any commissioning this year. Due to the changes on the recent ones, it looks like they might be waiting on the new subsystems before commissioning.

Interesting...I would have figured they phase out the 4 053H2Gs first in the ESF? Maybe transfer the two 054s to NSF?
