I bet on the US Navy's photo you would actually see a missile instead of just cloud of hot gases. This photo looks like a somebody had just ignited a big flare on the deck ;)

Well good thing I didn't say this was a USN photo then, isn't it?

Well, it IS a great pic...and there forward on the left you can see that the door is open, so the missile is just about to make its appearance.

I like this sequence of one of the test launches of the SM-3 ABM from the Mk-41:

Block IB SM-3 is in the field, with a range of about 400 miles. Block IIA will be testing next year with a range of 1,350 miles.

Some nice images. Finally, the deck crew of have helmets. Looks like the funding is starting to trail down to these smaller, everyday items after the important big purchase and R&D budgets are meeting acceptable levels.
Also some nice shots of torpedo firing. CIC also looks properly nice and crowded, though they've lit up the lights again for PR photos

this really is some of the best photos I've seen. I rarely see photos of Ka-28 landing on 054A.

look bulky and obsolete ... I don't know about you ... they look to me they still use CRT and not LCD/LED?

They're obviously LCD, are you serious?

As for bulkiness, only the latest ship designs have sleeker interfaces, and 054A at the end of the day is a design from nearly ten years ago. Newer consoles doesn't inherently better performance overall either.

Nice PR photo, but holy Batman! How many Senior Colonels (Commodores) does it take to man a 54A CIC? I see three, possibly four.

I think it may be some kind of exercise deliberately bringing together multiple such officers... the ship could be hosting some kind of familiarization training, or maybe it is an exercise for the ship acting as command for a task force.

Under usual conditions the CIC looks more like the photos in the link below
