If current production rates continue by 2020 we could have a frigate inventory of between 35-40 frigates of class Type 054A/B

Also if current DDG rates continue there could be between 10-15 Type 052C/D destroyers

Thats a surface fleet of between 50-60 new ships, a outstanding achievement

I wonder if China can out produce US warships at any given year.

Ya, that even they didn't utilize the full capacity of HP & HD, imagine if they utilizes the capacities of both yard only discounting other yards the numbers what Asif is mentioning could be easily achieve as of today.

Despite the impressive production run of multiple PLAN platforms, they still have a finite budget and priorities are different year from year, so I doubt this kind of production rate is sustainable for frigates. The next phase of production "surge" will be concentrated at DDG and corvettes. My guess would be 054A/B production will be kept at a 1-2 ships per year max, 056 production ramp up to 4 per year, DDG to 2-3 per year, and meanwhile hopefully HD can squeeze in a few LHDs.

What's the point of building a few LHDs if they only have thirty-something Naval helicopters? PLAN can't even supply sufficient copters to their FFG and DDGs, to say nothing of their CV, LPDs, and auxiliaries.

Pretty sure this island dispute with Philippine, Vietnam and Japan just increased that finite budget towards the infinite direction. I won't be surprised if they really increase the production to a new levels in the next few years.

Agreed, it is surprising why China is building so few helos, it is not like they don't have the technology.
