054/A FFG Thread II

I'm lost in the numbers.
There are now 10 Type 054A's in active service in the PLAN, then there are 4 Type 054A's that are launched and are under varius stages of fitting out at HD. Then there are another 3 or 4 type 054A's that are in the dry docks or about to be laid down. Right ?

As of December there were 15 that had already been launched. They have since launched another one. So 16 are now launched.

There are two more yet to complete (one of which I believe is already under construction) for a total of what will be 18 Type 054As.

The hull sitting in the Hudong building dock is HD 7 LIUZHOU 573, expected to launch this month.

HD 6 LINYI 547 is fitting out and is expected to commission in September.

HD 5 YANCHENG 546 was commissioned in June.

The most recent launching was of HP 8 SHAOYANG 574, Hull 14 over all, on 09.05.12.

HP 7 YUEYANG 572 is also fitting out and is expected to commission in September.

HP 6 SIPING 550 was commissioned in May.

Okay, I thought 573 had been luanched already, but you say it is 574.

So, the following 14 have been launched, correct?

If those are correct, then 531 & 532 wrre the cuplrits.

That will make FFG 573 Liuzhou, out of HD number 15.

Then the following will be all that are left to be built out of the 18 Type 054As:

17 - FFG 531 Unnamed, 2013-nnn HP
18 - FFG 532 Unnamed, 2013-nnnn HD

You are right about 531 being the culprit. The ship that was launched HP 12.05.12 was the SHAOYANG 574, as I wrote.

What we are seeing is that the build-up of 14 Frigate Squadron Qingdao-Jiaonan with four 054A 538, 550, 546 and 547 will be complete by September.

And in September the build-up of 1 Frigate Squadron Yulin will start, with 572 to be followed by 573, 574 and 575.

Only then will 531 and 532 be built, to complete the build-up of 15 Frigate Squadron Dinghai, supplementing 548 and 549.

538 YANTAI and 550 SIPING were built by Huangpu, 546 YANCHENG and 549 CHANGZHOU by Hudong.

568 CHAOHU was renamed HENGYANG on 22.02.12, no doubt because the name CHAOHU is to be given to 903A Hull 1 (replenishment ships are named after lakes, Hu).

please don't mention commissioning as it will confuse things for simple people like me LOL....

Commission is merely entering service. If you want a number without mentioning their stage then it's a bit of a subjective view. First they are built, then launched, then fitted out (last esensors etc), then sea trials, then commissioning (entering service in PLAN). I'd say you just pick one of these as your defintion of "built" and "under construction", and then Jeff Head and franco-russe's posts will be more than enlightening I'd say...(what would we do without )
