The PLAN just keeps churning these guided missile Frigates out. Very impressive.

It looks golden. Probably 6 or 6:30 am. Beautiful picture, though the angle makes it look short.

Anyway, JIANGKAI I 525 is still in refit at Shenjia, Shanghai (preparing for transfer to Lushun?).
Minesweeper WOSAO 803 is also there.

Is the type 054's being refitted to type 054A standard ?
They are definitley doing some upgrade work, but I seriously doubt they will add the VLS and all that goes with it unless they planned for that structurally to begin with. If they did...then yes, it would mean they meant to all along.
If not, then it would be very costly and I would envision them being upgraded in terms of sensors and other less extensive changes.
We'll see once one of them comes out of the refit.
