New pictures of the 3rd 054A from HP shipyard. This pretty much says that I was wrong all along and the windows aren't going to be smaller (or designed to be stealthier as I had thought). Didn't get too good of a look on this, but it hasn't advanced all that much other than the fact that the 76 mm is installed now.

i don't know where to go with this, except that they claim this is HQ-16 and it does resemble shtil a little bit. And it looks pretty small. How many would you be able to fit in those 054A cells?

Take a notice of that vehicle. It's a heavy duty truck and if the two pics are from the same vehicle, you'll notice that it carries 8 missiles. Now for Shtill-sized missile thats just about the maxium you can have. So given the size of the VLS cells in 054A, it's pretty safe to assume that one missile per one cell being this missile smaller or larger than Shtill.

Generally, most modern SAM designs have long thin middle fins for less drag, while the rear control fins have a cross span greater than the middle fins. This is in contrast with old "classic" SAM or even AAM designs where the mid fins, called canards, is span wise wider then the rear fins. An example is the Sparrow.

Yes, it has something from 9M317 as well as 9M317M. It has also thrust vectoring, that's good.

it really was unfortunate that I jumped the gun on the last one, seeing how people claimed it was HQ-16 and I thought it looked a little like shtil. Anyhow, it turns out to be part of SY-400.

It doesn't change that the original rocket design may have been a SAM, and in this case, the HQ-16. SAMs have been used as MLRS. China did it with retiring HQ-2s.

Well even I as notorious "nah it's propably fake" kinda guy was so keen to see the HHQ-16 and bought it 100%...

Actually I'm bit disapointed as the system overall would have seem quite alot of the one that I've imagined the HQ-16 to be:(

A lot of missiles are shaped like that, including Standards and Tartars. Yes, long thin mid body wings with stubby fins on the tail.
