Interesting that 052D is getting CCG iteration.

That means a new DDG--follow up to 052D--is coming.

I think current 052D gets 40 units before this DDGx shows up.

Isn't a destroyer size ship like the 052D for a coast guard a waste of money and construction time? As a navy ship it can carry huge firepower. But a coastguard ship don't even carry missiles. Just a few guns and water canon will be such a waste of such a expensive warship.

Warships are expensive because of the weapons and electronics they carry. The hull is cheap in comparison and reusing the hull modules will actually save money due to economies of scale.

7500 tons is not even the biggest CCG ship, they have several 12,000 ton ships as well. Size gives you lots of range and endurance.
