A rare sight: the aft boarding hatch is open.

Looks like a Russian delegation?

Would seem to be another sign of trust to pipe aboard Russian Naval personnel with a direct view of the PLAN TASS and VDS (even if pictures of those gears are available online).

The question is whether the parts he visited are those critical areas. There could easily be airlock type doors further in (not accessible to the public)

To put what I was saying before in another way. It could be that the Western and Western-derived designs have the airlock type doors even in not-so-critical areas because "that's the way we've always done it". This is what I suspect his impression could be coming from. Anyone with engineering experience knows its easier not to change something rather than change it.

Not to nitpick too much at statements, but I was specifically commenting on the question of the necessity of airlocks to the superstructure and not on whether they exist and where.

@XavNN, what do you make of my posts here, here, and here? You need to chime in and give your side.

It would be helpful if you could share images and video from your tour of Nanning. I'm sure many on this forum would like to see what you have seen.

Making a single request is fine, but relating to my previous statement, do not pester him or make this issue personal.

Doubtful that Russians may glean any knowhow from covered up equipment.

I like the storm-trap though, for boarding by true sailors :)
