This entry in Chinese Wikipedia does seem to support that hull # H2616 is type 052DL.

If the source for this Wikipedia page on the 35th unit of 052D/DL-class is to be trusted, then damn... TEN (10) UNITS of 052D/DL under construction at the same time.

The 2nd round of 下饺子式 (dumpling-cooking style) warship construction is well underway in China.

i think it means when the dumplings are cooked [ship launches] they float away. and cooking dumplings you don'y just cook one....you cook plenty...series [modular] production

That's pretty impressive how far Yinchuan has sailed in the last 3 weeks. According to SCMP that cited this

, the ship was spotted by New Caledonia(near Eastern Australia) on Dec 29th - that's a distance of over 5000 nmi and likely included at least a couple of at sea refuel and replenishments

Good thing China has the security cooperation agreement with the Solomon Islands that allows PLAN ships to replenish there. This should make voyages to the middle/east Pacific more frequent. Still, even if Yinchuan did loop back from New Caledonia to stop there, they would still need to join up with replenishment ships.

No photos from the US side so far. Looking forward to some from the PLAN if/when they decide to release it.
