It is difficult for large and complex institutions such as the military to make effective use of a such a dramatic and rapid increase in budget. New major acquisition programs for foreign equipment are perhaps the most plausible destination for such additional funds...

If this image is correct, from mandrake at the CDF, then the top array is a set of four fixed X-band AESA instead of rotating two sides. Cropped because the original image exceeds the forum software limitations.

Using fixed solutions instead of mechanical ones saves you a lot of mechanical stress, along with its engineering and maintenance issues.

Bad choice of name. Obviously the marketing team do not understand whale shark's behaviour.

Why not just call it as it is, type 052E, "E" for export.

Whale sharks are slow and fall prey to several creatures. They don’t even attack back since they are filter-feeders. The whale shark is often prey to a variety of fish that includes sharks, blue marlins, killer whales, and humans.
