So even the US during the height of the cold war couldn't do it?

During the cold war the US certainly had periods where it was able to launch multiple ships in a year, in an impressive fashion.

I'm not sure if they've ever had shipyards where they would assemble 5-6 destroyers in a single drydock.

For the record, assembling 5-6 destroyers in a single drydock is a reflection of national shipbuilding strength yes, but also on the specifics of the given shipyard in question. It's not an absolute indicator of awe inspiring industrial capability at the national level -- you can still be a very formidable shipbuilding nation without it.

I believe the peak of US shipbuilding in the Cold War is engaging 8x Spruance-class in 1979? (it seems PLAN broke the record several years ago but I’m not sure.) They built 6 of them simultaneously in Ingalls but I’m not sure if they are built in a single drydock.

Latest rumor said to be 19 052DLs in this batch, source: Shilao's colleague.

It's a good indication they will use pennants 130, 160, 176, 178, 179, 125, 126, 127, 128, 129, 135, 158, 159, and 166. Also a good indication in the eventual retirement of 136, 137, 138, 139, 167, 168, and 169, then move these pennants to 052DL. It does take a while for the 052DL to reach and replace the old refitted destroyers. It also leaves possibility they may not go thru the refit of 168, 169, 138 and 139, and just replace them outright with 052DL. Two or three 052D may get renumbered (117, 118, 119) and transferred to another flotilla.

I think if they're going to retire the DDGs and replace it with 052DL, it's going to be the OG 052 first, then 051C (because it's steam-powered and refitting S-300 is going to be costly). The MLUed 051B, 052B, and Sovremenny can stay a while longer or get demoted into "super frigate" category
