I second this, why build the 52Ds when there's newer and better versions of it like say 52DL.

Wow, that would be something.
Some nations are able to build six frigates or corvettes in a single drydock.
But six destroyers is a definite power move.
So the new batches of ships have apparently started surfacing now.
We have seen 054A, 052D/DL. Some also claim there are two 071s under construction in HD, but I haven't seen any images so far.
We're still waiting for signs of new 055 and 075 emerging, but we have seen some contract bidding documents for 054B and 076.
It'll be quite a scene if they all appear.

Wasn’t there a statement earlier this year about 20 destroyers being launched this year?
I don't recall that.
And 20 destroyers being launched this year is impossible, unless there are some other 055s and 052DLs being built elsewhere at over 50% structural completion that we haven't noticed.
How long do you think these 5 or 6 will be in dry dock?
It depends if they launch all five or six at once or not.
If they launch all of them at once, then they'll probably be launched sometime mid next year.
If they launch the more complete pair first, then they can probably launch that pair before the end of the year, and the subsequent ones in drydock early to mid next year.
This was during the period the ship was refitted. Either the ship was refitted in Dalian where she was made, or part of the refit was accomplished there.
