Thanks.....'youngtomous'..............yes i see the 'HSH' designation in the photo.

I handnt seen this photo on 'HSH' myself.............i was just asking for some clarification from you, on your previous post.

Don't be dissapointed my friend, and thanks for the news! :)

The Chinese shipbuilder 'JN' has certainly got into the groove with building the 052D Destroyer class............can anyone here speculate as to how many will be possibly be built, and distributed amongst the Chinese North, East and South sea fleets?

From what I've known, first batch is around 12.

This has no specific source, it's the result I've filtered out after seeing almost all threads on forums such as ****, CJDBY, HSH, and so on. I've taken it, but it's your call whether to take it.

Anyway we'll soon learn that at this rate of construction.

Yes...ive presumed at present as of what we know now that at least 12 will be built..........was just wondering if they would be distributed equally amongst the Chinese fleets!

If the allocation of 052Cs is any evidence, this is definitely not going to be the case. the South and the East will get way more than the North. That's if the North get ANY at all.

Why PLAN concentrate on East and South not NORTH ... in the North are three very very strong navies ... SK, Japan and Russia

Maybe because current and all past disputes have been in the AOR of East and South Sea Fleets?

Also, destroyers are blue-water assets for the PLAN, doesn't make as much sense to assign to North Sea Fleet which should be more focused on littoral combat due to geography.

Disputes by definition mean that there are disagreement between one or more parties and they stay benign by conscious choice. If the strategic decision is to actively pursue your claims then in my view is to go for the low hanging fruits or take a path of least resistance like in East or South as the Philippines or Vietnam is easier to take on then Russia or Japan. Deployment of assets then become a tactical decision.

ESF and SSF can access blue water easier and are better oriented to face Taiwan, Japan, and the US, so it makes sense to equip them (initially) with more of the longer range and newer ships.

That said, NSF might get a few of the 12 new 052Ds. SSF and ESF can only take in another 4 052Ds each, leaving 4 potentially over for NSF to overhaul one of its destroyer flotillas (probably the 10th flotilla).

What will be interesting is how 055s are distributed. Chances are PLAN will undergo an expansion in absolute destroyer numbers between now and 2030, and who knows if they'll keep the distribution the way they are. Maybe create an extra flotilla in ECS or SCS or expand the number of ships per flotilla overall, or whatever.
