If this picture is real then it's certainty D6 can't be D5 it's too underdeveloped

I would be really surprised if no pictures of the launch of D5 were seen it would be the first time such a huge development has been missed

I agree!

Umm.........it could be D6, but we dont know the date of the photo............and as you have said no images of the launching ceremony of D5. Seen nothing on Chinese Navy sites, of other forums. Remember, we were told not so long ago that D4 was launched last November, and that proved to be a false flag by a long way off!

Could D5 really of been constructed at such a pace......i mean going by the launch date of D4, that means D5 only took 4 months to piece together, and half paint!

I am not that surprised as I always said that each hall at JNCX can knock out 2 x DDG each per year if pushed that's 4 x DDG per year from this yard alone

That is not out of the question as Ingalls and Bath Iron Works between them from 1989-2012 pumped out 62 Arleigh Burke units a ship bigger and heavier in sophistication

Plus the last 4 units of 4 x Type 052C were in break neck pace

Add to that he streamlined production they could have these units coming out every 5-6 months

If we check this photo from late August we can see that D5 was ready to launch I doubt they waited for over 1 month and kept this in the hall way

The new bow we see is most likely unit D6

Perhaps they've streamlined and improved the modular construction to a point where the assembly in the hall only requires a short time? We see less photos of the modules under construction so we don't know how far back when the D6 modules started.

If the photos members post....are upto date...........then i would agree that then the ship in hallway could be D6.

As always, unless we get some sort of confirmation from other sources, we have to guess what we are seeing in the photos.

Maybe, it would help if members here, when posting photos, write a few words, saying whether they got these photos from upto date news sources, or are just archive images.............thanks! ;)

Eh?..........what confirmation?........all you've done is post an image of what appears to be an almost completely painted 052D......together with some meaningless text!

I'am not saying it isnt D5 ..........all you have done is prove my point.............ie posting an image, that could be of any 052D in the past.

Where did you get this picture from?........whats the date?.........where are the ceremonial flags?......but more importantly where is the news article that went with it, confirming the launch?

What the poor you are !you have no idea about the vessel which along by the 052D.It is the 1# 12,000 Tons Coast Guard vessel .And you still don't know the time of it, right? If you know 12000 Coast Guard ,then you should know it is definity the 5#052D.This photo is the unique photo for 5# 052D got into the water.
Till the day before yesterday it only turn out the second photo. 5#and 6#dd.jpg
Be smart guy,you need to learn more.

Here is a picture of the first four 052Ds launched, dated at August 1st this year (052D number 5 was supposedly launched no earlier than august 25th). Note how only one of them lack a mast mounted surface search radar, and that its metal coversing for 346A are red metal rather than white.

In youngtomous' photo, you can see how the newly launched 052D #5's metal coverings for 346A are white. Also note how its mast and hull overall is far more barren than any of the ships below, meaning fitting out has not started yet -- i.e.: it was only recently launched.
In youngtomous' photo you can also see the bow of 052D #6 immediately protruding from the hall. They might have even begun work on it in the hall before 052D #5 was launched.

Edit: also, the wikipedia page for 052D has also been updated to show #5 was launched on august 27th. I'm not sure who updates the launch and in service dates for all the PLAN ships (they do it for 052C, 054A, 056 etc as well), but they've done a great job so far, with dates agreed upon by the knowledgable fellas who follow this kind of thing over on CDF. So it's good enough for me.

Thanks............'Bltizo'......for pointing out the technical observations of the photo!

It is still strangel though how this event, the 5th launching of an 052D seemed to go pass us all quietly, without any news from the Chinese, even on their more specific navy news websites.

Regarding Wiki, i'am one of the people who contributes to the dates of launchings and commissionings, but i only update the info, when i have proof from Chinese sources...........and yes i have seen that someone has put in a date for launching of the 5th 052D.....but it was done so in 'italics'......meaning the author was unsure!

Time will tell.

Anyway......i agree that it is highly likely that 052D no.5 has launched............quite an amazing construction speed! :)
