For the case of 052D and 055 launches at DL, my point is that we have no way to confirm whether the ships at their stage of construction was meant to be watertight or not -- because for the launches of the two 052Ds earlier this year and the two 055s last year, they placed a separating wall between the ships intended to be launched and the ships still under construction.

There were literally pictures taken of those launches, showing a separating wall in place.

There was literally a wall separating the hulls to be launched and the hulls still being worked on.

Go back and look at pictures of when the ships were launched.

That wall separates the first two 052D from the 055 and the third 052D. Look closely on that picture, the 055 is placed ahead from the third 052D.

My point about the wall separating the two 052Ds from the 055+052D is to point out that it was impossible for the 055 or 052D to have been floated.

As for how they were moved from their positions; I have no idea as to how the exact process works but I know it is very normal for large ships to be able to be moved in shipyards or on drydock atop their blocks even if they lack obvious rails on the ground. Often they use motorized transporters to lift them but I'm not sure if that's what they use in this case.
They might have used marine launch airbags to transport the ships between the blocks because I don't think there is enough space for the large motorized transporters in the drydock.

052D. I'm not aware of any 052E variant in existence.

Parallel production lines for 055 and 052D seems to indicate cost to performance differences between the two and/or different roles performed between the two.
