It appears that we will have to wait for a successor class to the 052C for any improvements.

The PLAN seems more interested in acquiring more hulls than implementing improvements in the design.

For the time being I would say that the era of building 2 prototype ships then trying something new is suspended.

PLAN is now concentrating on building up strength, new technology will come later.

As long as it is built flexible enough for future upgrade, especially for VLS and Radar

btw there are sections of ships laid down in JN which could indicate no. 7 and 8 are under construction, question is are they more Type052C or a more advanced Type052D, maybe some members can confirm this one

This kind of stuff is really hard to say, because those modules could belong to any of the planned units. We have some more photos here. Updated ones on the 4th, 5th, 6th and some modules.

yes these were the pics i was refering to, guess we will just have to wait and see where those modules fit in

maybe PLAN will built another 4 before switching to the O52D around 2015.
Don't forget that you need people to manage those advanced boat. that is probably the reason why building seems slow.
i heard PLAN will hire 2000 ph d for the years to come

Great pics Tphuang! Glad to see the new one making way and looks like number 4 will not be too far behind.

Just out of curiosity, how come these pics are not on the:

Type 052C thread?

Oh...I see, they've all been combined. Too bad...the ships are a lot different and the Type 52 is really a completely different ship than the Type 52C. I was looking for the Type 52C thread to come up and never saw it and now I know why.

but why VHF band antenna?
if low RF ideal for counter stealth, NATO and USN,not to mention other countries may also introduces similiar technology on there navy.but I to date, only PLAN carry low band rf antenna.

To date only the US has VLO aircraft, so why does the US and allies need to equip against a threat that does not exist yet? As the J20 and PAKFA nears service date, you will see western forces re-evaluate and adjust their equipment and tactics accordingly.

So there will be 8 052Cs soon, circa 2014 ..... wow, just 052Cs itself would make the top 10 Navy in the world !
