If you have seen videos of Chinese missile firings, you would notice that Chinese AShMs perform a sharp climb immediately after launch, and then rapidly dives down to sea skimming height.

Considering we are only hearing news about land based test firings of a new common VLS, I would think the 052C's VLS is only able to use the HHQ9.

If the development of the common VLS is successful, we could see it on the next class of destroyers after the Type 052C and the next class of frigates after the Type 054A.

We might even see it on the Type 095 SSN, which is thought to have vertically launched cruise missiles.

It would be hard to convert a ship based VLS onto a submarine based one. Besides the only thing SSNs will need to fire from VLS in the forseeable future is LACMs.

You dont' need a common vls for submarines it's not like they need to fire sams or asw missiles lulz

Agree with Blitzo, an universal VLS is not going to be so universal that it can work above and below water. :p

Sub launched missiles need a very specialized release mechanism to make sure they can work safely underwater that would be completely useless for a surface ship VLS. It would be a lot easier to design two separate VLS for subs and surface ships than trying to make one work for both.

Changxing Jiangnan Line 3 Does Not Have Enough Space To Build Aircraft Carriers

Line 1 and Line 2 are able to build carriers
