18 or 24 shot either way is there automated reloading or is it manual?
Well, it's located well forward on that deck over the hanger, so it depends on if the hanger stops before it gets there.

It seems like a real close call to me. I believe that there probably are not any auto-reloads below that launcher because of the hanger below it. Though as I say, if the hanger underneath stops before reaching the launcher above, then it would be possible.

and tell me what are the white objects below the radar array (I made the black ellipse around them)? On some pictures of Type 052D they're not mounted, and on one picture I saw them amidship, too (or I thought I saw them :)

Those are just inflated liferafts in hard-shelled canisters, very normal stuff, and the same location in the case of 052C too.

BTW, the 052D CGI is incorrect. The aft VLS assembly is orientated and located incorrectly and I can't but help feeling that the real 052Ds are somewhat slimmer than the model.

Here are four pictures of the actual Type 052D which make the liferaft locations, and the location and oritentation of the aft VLS very clear:

...and here's a good pic that shows very nicely the differences between the Type 052C and Type 052D in terms of weapons and general arrangements.

No, by now 052D Hull 1 has received the Mineral-ME dome (Russian design, for those who think everything is the product of outstanding Chinese technology).

That's the same type sensor as on the Type 052C, and is being installed now on the 1st Type 052D:

Why they did not install it earlier, before its initial trials, I cannot say. On the Type 052Cs, it was always installed during outfitting before intial trials.
