Just want an update, so the 1st 052D is fitting out....2nd one has been launched, 3rd one under construction...now i hear there is a 4th also under construction...is there photographic evidence to support building of a 4th vessel........thanks.

Well if the aircraft captain has been instructed to circle the ships to give people a good view, that is because PLA want you to see them that way. Officially permitted state secret release is perfectly normal, and no death penalty is necessary.

Now, can we have a picture of civil aircraft over the shipyards from the ground ? I am very interested in the banking angle. The last picture I saw of the shipyard with an aircraft over it was that for a helicopter.

So you think the PLA discloses information by instructing civilian airline pilots to circle around their new ships, hoping that some travelers will take a picture and upload it to the web? That's your idea of how things work in China?

Well, I don't know what to say on that. I don't think the absurdity of your idea needs any further comment.

Actually, I have taken pictures with a DSLR from an airliner, in the economy class too. As long as you don't have a huge telephoto lens (those with F4 or below) on your camera, I think it's doable. The problem with blurry pictures is that the target is often very far away. Without huge telephoto lenses the photo we see now is probably cropped as a very small section from the original photo. Most cameras, even DSLRs, will present some grain and blurriness at that level of 'digital' zoom (also, the excessive zoom is why the angle could look deceptively vertical). In addition, a small enough camera+lens usually means either a small aperture lens or a small sensor. With that limitation, you may need a relatively noisy ISO to approach a fast enough shutter. As a result, you may have some additional motion blur, or ISO noise, or both, which will further degrade picture quality. And then there are air visibility issues and uneven plexiglass, like you have mentioned, so many elements in play to destroy picture quality.

Honestly I don't think commercial airline pilots have that much time on their hands to deliberately bank their 737s or Airbuses as they fly over shipyards so 1 or 2 of the 200 passengers n board can get a better view of a 052 or 054.

A.man's post # 2366 on 19th NOV'12 is the evidence of the following:

2nd 052D is luanched.
Next 2 currently under construction in halls are 3 & 4 052D.

Personally I think that the cruiser will be built simultaneously with the destroyer; there's no way they can make the cruiser in large enough numbers to substitute destroyers. Essentially they already have all the technology needed to build a modern one.
