I've noticed that 'wikipedia' have updated their details on the construction of the 052C Destroyers and 054A Frigates.
What i was surprised at, was that it is now stated that a 9th 052C is under construction............is that correct with what members here know?
Incidently current build count of 054A Frigate is 18 vessels.

If a 9th 052C is under construction...could it be assumed that there will be a 10th, as the PLAN seems to like building classes of ships in even numbers?

I suggest you do not use Wikipedia as your source of information, it's updated by everyday people
Read this thread for info, there will be 8 x Type 052C (150-153) and (170-173)
This will be followed by 8 x Type 052D (117-120) and (154-157)
That's 4 Flotillas 1 for NSF, 1 for SSF and 2 for ESF total 16 DDGs to replace all 16 Ludas which time should confirm and infact already has

Yes, i know 'wikipedia' is not the answer to all the true facts, but the info they have on the PLAN seems pretty good.
Lets say for argument sake there is a 9th vessel under contruction, could it be the first 052D????

Actually, the 112/113 are the perfect platforms to put the LACM on. It will give them a new role as the land attack missile shooters in a task force, putting the platdorms to good use in their ever fading lives due to newer and better ships being commisioned.

I would say yes to the first but not necessarily against the latter two, especially if the confrontation is with a Gepard class frigate or a Sigma class corvette of the respective navies.
Luda class DDG is more than enough to humiliate the phillipine navy, vietnamese navy or Indonesian navy
