00X/004 future nuclear CATOBAR carrier thread

I gotta say that the sudden decision to replace steam with EMALS during construction of a conventionally-powered supercarrier is truly a bold action to take.

You are right. But call the fourth carrier “004 Carrier” or “Carrier 004”, please? In recently years, it is clearly PLAN does not use the world “Type” in its carrier designation.

Liaoning = 001 Carrier = CV-16
Shandong = 002 Carrier = CV-17
The 3rd one = 003 Carrier = CV-18 (highly likely)
The nuclear one Pop3 talks about = 004 Carrier = CVN-19 (possible designation)

Pop3 also said: The magnetic catapult was developed so fast. PLAN decided to change the original steam catapult design. Meanwhile, the 003 carrier construction had to stop for more than one year.

Hengshen Road No 10 refers to the Chinese Shipbuilding industry Group Corporation (CSIC) 704 research institute, specializing in R&D of electromechanical equipment and systems for ships. It focuses on ship integrated power supply system, ship special auxiliary mechanical and electrical equipment.

Sorry about the typo. I meant Hengshan, not Hengshen.

I suggest you drop the word "Type" in all references to the ships. Either CV-19 or 4th ship. Because by now it is almost certain that these numbers are not PLAN "Types" which we won't know for a long time.

001, 002, 003, 004 are certainly not the type number like Type-55 destroyers. They are just sequence numbers. We should not invent something for PLAN when we already know they are not types, or when we know nothing about it.
