any estimates on final dimensions?
All we have are rumors and the fact that the pace of construction is too slow for a typical commercial vessel right now. It could be a repeat 003, we don't actually have solid evidence it's not. Construction is still in very early stages so not much can be inferred yet. Presumably it'll be roughly of similar size as USN CVNs.

Assuming that
1) this ship is an aircraft carrier
2) Date of photo is the date the module was first sighted by satellite
3) From past observation of construction of Fujian and Liaoning, new fabricated modules appeared every 2 week to 5 weeks after the last module. Small modules may be faster in showing up.

In above photo, 2nd module was sighted about 4 weeks after the first one. And the 2nd module appeared only 2 weeks ago from today. We may have to wait for another 2 weeks for the third module.

Fujian's construction in drydock was characterised by the assembly of huge modules several decks tall. There was no visible "keel laying" at JNCX, just big fat modules being pieced together. This was actually a pretty big point of contentious speculation early in 003's construction. QE was constructed in similar fashion.

It's worth mentioning that when Shandong was assembled at Dalian, they used a lot of little modules, and pieced her together bit by bit from the keel up, and we are probably seeing the same thing now for 004. I suspect Dalian is generally more comfortable with this type of construction for large military projects based on Shandong's construction history.

Ships of flat bottom hulls have their keels built-in at the bottom hulls. And Aircraft carriers do have keels. Each large fabricated module with bottom hull have built-in keel. DO check up the types of keels. Keel block laying can be done just before the bottom hull module are moved into the drydock.

All large ship under constructions have keel blocks or wheel carriages to support and balance the ship to prevent it tilt over, to distribute the weight of the ship on multiple keel blocks to prevent damages on the bottom hull, as well as to facilitate launching.

Shandong has smaller modules, and the frequency of new modules showing up was like 2-3 weeks. We will see if the next aircraft carrier will use construction method on Fujian or Shandong
