Re: Upcoming Labor Day open house of PLA HK Garrison

Small update:
Since nobody here kind enough to provide 2nd opinion, I just picked the naval base and the other army base that'll have the MILES demonstrations, though I still have one ticket for the army base that'll showcase counter-terrorist exercise.

If anyone here lived in HK and interested in that ticket, feel free to PM me before 29/4.

Re: Upcoming Labor Day open house of PLA HK Garrison

MwRYum, any updates or photos based on your visits? Didn't see your posts early enough to help your coin toss, hope someone went to the counter-terrorism demo. I would think that counter-terrorism is the most likely type of operation in Hong Kong, even if it is still low probability.

I actually went to see the MOUT MILES demo, not the CT demo. Now my problem are to upload the pics and videos...pics are simpler issue, gotta work out the Picasa and imageshack after I finish catalog them (12.3MP RAW files are big, even after trim the unwanted stuff and export as JPEG) 277 pics;

Videos are bigger problem, Youtube is annoyingly slow in this.

So give me about 3 hours (approx.) for pics, vids I don't know...try convert them to FLV first (720p avi stuff, 7min segments already 1.75GB each...)

Bet you guys already heard how President Obama watched the raid on Osama bin Ladin live, FPS style, seems that the PLA have something along the line as well. He was walking around wearing this kit, obviously on duty.

All these were display only at Stonecutter Island Naval Base.

Z-9ZH first ever (?) public display

I think it's quite safe to say that I'm the first one -can't find that in Chinese BBS sites either- to put them up in such detail...

Some said it's a Z-9WA modified into a dedicated command & control helicopter:
1. weapon pylons were removed and equipment originally carried on the pylons have been installed onto the body.
2. passenger room extended, with one more row of seats for 4, original back row (right behind the pilots) are now only one seat at the left side, with the command console occupied the rest.
3. The command console consist of at least 2 radio units and a MFD.

The tail no. reads "Z9-0539", does that mean it's the 539th unit rolled out from HAC?

Z-8KH displayed in Hong Kong

I know that the Z-8KH first debuted in 2010, but back then they covered up the FLIR and you can't see the cargo hold, this time the PLAAF were more generous, one might say...

DA-07 / PLA's MILES units on display...

As promised, here it is...

The system is called DA-07, with built-in GPS tracking, smoke round on the helmet will be fired once being "hit".

C-MILES-002.jpg

C-MILES-003.jpg

C-MILES-004.jpg

The switch is set behind the trigger, when the trigger is fully pulled it'd hit the switch, a red LED light on the laser unit would come on to indicate shot "fired".
