For the number of aircraft flying in the US the mishaps rate is quite low presently and so better than 40 years ago. About 1 airframe loss per 100 000hours of flight for the fleet. Biggest rate for UAV and Helicopters after them single engine aircraft.

Is been moored nearly two years with that amount of damage and saltwater going in and rusting all what it can ? Wow it look like old soviet stock rusting out...

Since there are only three in the class I think the delay is expected due to the lack of spare parts.
