Wuling signed agreement with Indonesia gov't to provide cars for 2023 ASEAN summit. Wuling air EVs with battery produced by Gotion in Indonesians. Indonesia would be falling out of its seat to welcome BYD to build a factory there. I'd be very surprised if this does not happen

Leapmotor Q1 report, pretty disastrous

David Goldman is all onto Seagull now, can't stop talking about it

Nio in a bit of trouble

车事纪 (well known auto content creator) got sued by Nio for 2 million, claiming that he falsified info about Nio selling cars cheaper overseas. Many fans (and other content creators) now attacking Nio because what 车事纪 said seems to be totally backed by hard data

On a side note, I think Nio's long term outlook is troubling too. I think they failed to really create a sense of luxury even despite their heavy investments in marketing/exclusivity/customer service. Even Denza which only recently started putting in real effort feels more luxurious to me (personally)

BYD song Pro DM-i to be launched in a week. This will be quite the price setter. That's 130k RMB for a SUV. How do you beat that value proposition? BYD has the sub 70 to 150K market completely covered

Another impressive part of BYD is its infrastructure build up. now, Xiaomo port is put into action. I anticipate this year to be building up export logistics. Next year will be when things are in good functional state

On a side note, Korean research firm predicts that BYD will hit a cap of around 4-5 million by 2028 and get overtaken by Tesla and VW

I think BYD might indeed hit a cap if its overseas expansion doesn't work out well, but I wouldn't be making any predictions so soon. Koreans just want to see BYD fail.
I suspect BYD will keep expanding by buying one or more EV manufactures before 2028.

This is actually old news. But The Electric Viking just got the wind of this.

There really is never going to be enough coverage of this vehicle.
It's a huge deal and this article shows why.

It comes w/ smart cockpit tech, adaptive cruise control, rear view camera+radar, assisted parking, voice recognition, tire pressure monitoring, heat pump, remote/keyless start, uphill assistance, body stabilization system, air bags+side air curtains, PM 2.5 air filter, fast charging, mobile wireless charging & 405km range in high end version

Who else can offer this at $11k?

Now, if they can just get this ramped up and the entire export logistics and supply chain figure out, this car will be everywhere in APAC
