Seems it will be a Tesla vs BYD
Yeah, but Tesla's inventory keeps piling up. Hit record high this quarter. So despite a succession of price cuts, demand is still sluggish. This suggests its a broader problem within the company beyond just the China market.

I think Tesla's problem is that there are too few models and too little iteration on each of them.

If the US ever allows Chinese EV's to be sold in the US, they will slap at least a 100% tariff. After reading how much new Chinese EVs will cost in US dollars, their electric cars will not be able to compete especially with inferior EV technology the US has. Traditional car companies don't like Elon Musk and they don't like the rise of Chinese EVs. That's why you see most of them knocking EVs. Look at how South Korea, Japan and now some US auto companies are talking up hydrogen. That's only because they were late in the game on EVs and they don't want to cede power to non-traditional upstarts. Like I've said before in this forum, Americans wants to be first to do something. Not be a follower. That's why also high speed rail is going nowhere in the US. They want hyperloop but that even seems to be an afterthought these days. Hydrogen will also be an afterthought since China is researching that as well and you know China will do it cheaper.

A few more news. Russia has a lot of lithium resource and wants to start mining. Great opportunity for Chinese heavyweights

This is on top of the large nickel deposit they have

Can range anxiety be solved? Well, maybe but we need higher amount of SiC and higher voltage charging system and more advanced/cheaper SiC MOSFET

One thing we forget is just how much memory is required in EVs. huge amount, from ADAS to entertainment systems to sensors to drivers display and such

The company’s EV plans appear somewhat piecemeal and heavily region-focused, at least in comparison with the likes of Volkswagen as well as Chinese companies like BYD.

It currently sells only a pair of small SUVs in China, plus the “e” hatchback in markets like Japan and Europe.

At Shanghai, it revealed the e:NP2 and e:NS2 prototypes and the e:N SUV Prologue concept, all of which will be on sale in China

The company is developing different EVs for Japan, China and the US, and enlisting partners like Sony and General Motors.

In 2025, Honda will introduce a “mid- to large-size” EV in North America on the new E&E architecture, derived from Honda’s existing E dedicated EV platform but with greater digital services connectivity.

These CEOs grew up in an era where Japan was the automotive capital of the world while Shanghai and Beijing were swimming in bicycles. How the turntables.
