Well, Germany has a strong domestic car industry. Does Israel? I'd imagine a lot of people in Germany have relatives or friends that works with automotive manufacturing and servicing.
You can't expect people to immediately embrace a brand they've never had heard of before. Any penetration of a foreign car market will take years.

Toyota took decades to become a household brand in United States despite having a superior product.

I'm afraid Wuhan might be turning into the Detroit of China
bro, what are you talking about.. its an off topic but still i m giving reply.

Wuhan contains three national development zones and four scientific and technological development parks, as well as numerous enterprise incubators, over 350 research institutes, 1470 high-tech enterprises, and over 400,000 experts and technicians.

Wuhan is also called China's optical valley.

Wuhan is the home of YMTC, one of the most famous Chinese IC company.

Wuhan Donghu New Technology Development Zone is a national level high-tech development zone. Optical-electronics, telecommunications, and equipment manufacturing are the core industries of Wuhan.

China's largest production center for optoelectronic products, also the home of the largest fiber-optical cable maker in China, and Fiberhome Telecommunications.

Automobile industry is just peanuts in Wuhan city economy.

a good thread on the price cuts, but the sales chart here vs YoY is the most interesting one. You can see how bad GAC and Dongfeng are hit. The other thing I noticed is that SAIC (especially GM) is down big time also.

Among domestic GWM & Chery are suffering the most. Chery has now revamped its lineup and signed up with Huawei. We will see what GWM does.

Is the coup de grace for the Japanese Auto Industry? We'll find out soon.

The only ones who will still hang on (but still with a reduction in sales) are BBA, Volkswagen and Toyota because they still have some brand power left.

I think Nissan, Honda, Chevrolet, Buick and all the small ones like Peugeot, Citroen, Mazda, Ford will basically die out, alongside weaker domestic brands like GWM, Chery

In China, yes. Toyota is the last bastion because of the famed reliability. If BYD can prove itself in reliability then its completely over for Japanese brands.

But in other markets probably not, unless BYD massively expands overseas much faster than they are doing now. In many developing countries B segmemt Japanese cars are still seen as the sensible option (BYD's smallest sedan is C+ segment). Meanwhile US market won't allow Chinese cars in

Doesn't matter. All BYD needs to do is displace Japanese cars in the domestic market in order to take a huge bite out of Japanese auto profits. China is the largest auto market in the world.

This article is interesting. Looks like BYD is taken over where Ford was before in Camaçari and they got quite a bit of subsidies from Bahian gov't. As we discussed before, they are building 3 plants:
lithium and phosphate processing plant
BEV and PHEV car plant
BEV bus and truck plant

Now, the interesting part here is that they are exporting lithium/phosphate to China in order to assemble batteries there. Looks like BYD is really closely guarding its battery technology.

Why Nissan Sylphy is the best selling car in China for three consecutive years in 2020, 21 and 22 (second best selling in '19) is well beyond me. Sylphy is also known as the Versa in the US and Almera in Asia.
