I don't think BYD will select Philippines
I think the fact that Philippines have been the most vocal about this indicate they are the least likely to be selected. It is kind of cool to see different countries fighting for BYD to build its cars there.

So we have BYD & Great Wall building plants in Thailand.

Wuling building plants in Indonesia & Vietnam.

I've actually said several times before, but I think BYD should build plants in both Indonesia & Vietnam. In Vietnam's case, they already have such a large operation there. The energy cost is reasonable. Vietnam gov't is actually working to connect itself even more closely with Chinese rail network so the infrastructure and supply chain from mainland to Vietnam is really easy. And IIRC, Vietnamese people actually want EVs for environmental reasons.

Indonesia I think is a good play for long term growth of that country. It's a large market without local brand and have already embraced Wuling Air. They need a more premium brand now. That's what BYD is. The transportation to Indonesia is not as convenient, but I'm sure the energy cost will be reasonable and the gov't there is bending over backward for EV investment.

So cheap Qin model going to see production go up to 20k in March and more than 20k in April. So even with new order, delivery time is still just 1 to 1.5 month. So, it's going to be a very hot car for entry level buyers.

Also, the ICE car plate cost (which exists in large cities in China) are collapsing now. NEVs are taking over.

btw, watch video in this. I gotta say that Geely Galaxy produced a very compelling sports car here. It looks damn good. And I can't believe if this gets put in the same price range as BYD Han, since Galaxy is suppose to be under 300k RMB

At the same time, Toyota cars just look garbage and still relies on BYD motor

It is just funny to see members of Congress is so concerned about IP when in fact China should be the one that worried about IP thief from the US. In addition, no matter how successful you are as long as you are Chinese, then members of Congress can discriminate you and your company with no reason.

Microvast has been singled out by members of Congress as posing intellectual property risks making the General Motors partner unworthy of federal funding.

The conflicts highlight some unsavory policy choices Washington now faces: How can the US go electric after ceding battery manufacturing and technology to China for the past decade? Is it realistic to decouple from a geopolitical foe that dominates large swaths of the EV supply chain?

Microvast makes for an ideal whipping boy for politicians whose lack of long-term planning and internecine squabbles have played a role in the US falling behind in the global battery race. It was founded in Texas in 2006 by Yang Wu, a Chinese-born American citizen and entrepreneur who previously built businesses in oil services and water treatment.

It's a good thing. Their xenophobia should be encouraged as it will lead to increasing brain drain from their most productive part of population (Asian Americans) and essentially self-imposed tech sanctions, them going full white supremacist will fully alienate the Global South and even their Asian vassals might become less willing to participate.

The powerful Indian intellectuals are still flooding to the US.

I’m not even surprised to see Geely running in the wrong direction same as the GWM.this concept , this drivetrain is what a engineer would build for another engineer, lucky for them being a Chinese company, at least batteries are cheaper and we have enough engineers
