My favourite quote:

CATL is providing the technology, so what are they stealing?

Apparently Ford’s “technology and competitive strategies”.

As a bonus, he pulls in Huawei, Russia, Ukraine, and gets LFP batteries fundamentally wrong, and apparently thinks LiFePO4 (LFP) is a Chinese acronym...

I can't believe this guy is willing to embarrass himself so publicly.

To be fair China probably stole his brain at some point before the writing of the article and he is understandably outraged.

yes, this has been posted & Geely has a 46% efficiency engine under development.
IIRC, BYD's DM-i has ~43% efficiency, so both Dongfeng and Geely's new engines are claiming/aiming to be even more efficient than BYD's.

yeah, but DM-i figure was from last year and Dongfeng's/Geely's figures are this year. BYD will surely have something new this year.

Well, this is kind of unexpected for me. I was expecting Vietnam and Indonesia, but Philippines? Given their recent anti-China policies, there certainly isn't going to be any political push for them. Aside form that, they have no energy, infrastructure or labor cost advantages. I'm really not seeing it for them.

On the other hand, maybe we are finally getting to the point that a Chinese brand is so well known that many countries are chasing for its investment.

Sir I share your skepticism and it won't happen, the reason we have the highest energy cost in the ASEAN region second only to Japan in the whole of Asia. What we have in abundance is the highly educated work force BUT again the curriculum doesn't match the actual need of manufacturing industries as our Educational system cater more on services (call centers, seaman, carpentry and nursing) for export as OFW. :(

I don't think BYD will select Philippines
The Philippines has previously lost out on investment opportunities to its neighbors given its power rates are among the costliest in the region

Both Vietnam and Indonesia are good candidates, but I would suggest Indonesia because, though, Vietnam has a population of 100 million people and rather good environment for car industry, Indonesia has higher population and better car industry.

Bro how are you? it's good that you're posting again. :) Yup its either Indonesia or Thailand, the rest are not important, I'm aware of Vietnam potential BUT the two are the giants in the region. ;)
