Why don't they deploy Shilkas or Gepard against those Gerans? It should be technically effective against it
Now that the Russians have (finally) started targeting infrastructure targets, there simply isn't enough to defend every target. You'd need thousands to protect factories, substations, bases etc.

Small arms is probably the option. 5.45 is enough to take out these drones, but magazine fed AKs aren't the way to go about it. I doubt they are using self destructing rounds, so the bullets will land somewhere and cause damage.

I'm still waiting for a drone based aerial defence platform...

In other news I found out that Ukraine still has a functional railway network.

I wonder what terrorist act the Ukrainians will need to pull off in order for Putin to decide trains are fair game as well.

I mean, couldn't Ukraine mate EO turret/radar, laser range finder, ballistic computer to like say ZPU or ZSU-23 and have them hunt those Gerans?

They don't have time for that... they don't have enough rolling chassis to think about using them for modifications or not enough to retreave them from the front. They need a hell lot of new systems and a hell lot of time to train for them.
