Not only does it need to pass, not only does the money need to not be siphoned away, not only does the money need to be used not buying overpriced equipment, not only does that equipment have to be as advertised, not only does that equipment need trained and competent operators, not only does that equipment need to be properly maintained, but that equipment also needs to not be destroyed in the first salvo. Then, and only then, will that equipment meet the Chinese forces it was purchased to fight.
At the current time, Taiwan has displayed none of those things. This is just another way to move US taxpayer money into the coffers of the US MIC.
@FairAndUnbiased There is so much "'Murica is back" stuff going on these days that turned out to be scams its honestly baffling how people still fall for it.
Edit: And just out of the interest of equality yes, there was that "Above road Bus" thing that was supposed to be rolled out in China a few years back. That didn't turn out well. But no-one cancelled China's high-speed rail in anticipation of that! Scams (or overambitious projects) exist. Thats fine. Putting your real, actual development plans on the backs of them, is obviously stupid.
