Wow they still try to put China down even when they are wrong. Now I am praying that these lying bastards get their’s soon because nothing can ever get through to these people. If the USA is so that righteous and kindhearted, why don’t they actually problem vaccines to the world instead of letting China so it since the USA is all about America first. All this Sputnik talk is just for show IMO. They have the vaccine but not the production capacity

China is now building new production facilities for mRNA vaccines which are going through testing. They should focus on more effective mRNA vaccines rather than these russian vaccines. They should have tested these mRNA vaccines in parallel to traditional vaccines. Now they realize mRNA vaccines are in general more effective. They will have to wait until next year before they can ramp up mRNA vaccines production.

I agree that the mRNA technology is the future for vaccines. I think China was delayed because it was quite behind the rest of the world in this tech and because they wanted to domestically produce the materials required for mRNA vaccine.
I dont blame them for domestic supply production because with all this vaccine nationalism who knows if China was cut off the supply and as a result couldn't produce the mRNA vaccine

I think that people criticising China for not developing mRNA vaccines as quickly as certain Western companies are missing an important point. The technology was and still is highly uncertain, it may be years before we get a good picture of the long term effects of them. On that note, if the mRNA vaccines had led to huge adverse effects China would have dodged a very dangerous bullet as well. Every biology/chemistry student comes across at some point the Thalidomide/monoclonal antibodies disasters as part of their curriculum (or should do). It is not for nothing that Pfizer received full waivers of potential lawsuits, from the US government.

If you look at the number of confirmed cases, they have tripled in the past 2 weeks to 200K daily.
At the same time, the positivity rate has skyrocketed.
So yes, there has been explosive growth in infections.

And the trajectory of the infections has already been set for the next 10 days, as it takes that long for an infection to appear and be tested.
Plus you've still got festivals running this week with millions of people.

So I reckon we will easily see 400k reported daily infections in India within the next 2weeks.

In the next month, I also expect to every urban hospital system overwhelmed in India, which will trigger Mumbai-type lockdowns in every urban area.

But I don't think the lockdowns will be as severe as last March.

I also think India will be battling more lockdowns this autumn/winter given:

1. India's low vaccination rate
2. the proportion of people immune due to previous infection, and their waning immunity
3. the new variants
4. mask fatigue
