I'm going to tackle this part of your post. Because I think you got it wrong.
1) No one gives a shit. Really. Anyone that still holds the China =Communist = Bad idea is an ignorant idiots and their opinion don't really matter anyway. No one hates China just because you're communist. Really. Kids now days don't even know what communism means. In fact. It's kinda cool to be communists again.
2) Again. No one that matters really gives a shit. Most people don't vote anyway.
3) Who gives a damn? No one cares what the Chinese can or can not read. Really. Believe me.
4) Most people don't even know half of that stuff.

Since we're cutting to the chase I'll tell you why I think people don't like China.

It's tribal. Plain and simple. Before there's the Chinese there's the dirty Irish. Before them there's the bloody Scottsman. People will find a reason not to like you because you're in a different tribe. You're not going to get around that unless you're part of the team. Either joining willingly, like the anglo sphere, or through conquest like the Japanese and Koreans. The Japanese's reputation has been entirely rehabilitated because they're on the team now. It's got nothing to do with hypocrisy. It's the game we play. So don't be so sensitive about it.

There's no hypocrisy, there's no reasonable opinions or unreasonable opinions. There's just tribes. People tend to say that China needs better PR, or better marketing to influence the western audiance. I'm saying that's a lost cause. There's no reasonable argument a Man City fan can say to a Man United fan to convince him otherwise.

So don't be so precious. Enjoy the game.

Going by your rant, are you sure this is the right forum for you? CNN has stopped commentaries in many reports, but there are still many other speakeasy outlets for your.

You must be one of those guys that only enjoys assenting opinions then. Circle jerks were never my scene. But to each their own. I'm not judging.

I actually sort of agree with you. That Western hatred of China is not rational. But what you call tribal identity, I think is just what your tribal elders are telling you to feel. Remember back in the 1980's, when the West needed China to face off the Soviet, suddenly the Red Chinese are the good guys. Deng Xiaoping wearing a cowboy hat, he must be a swell guy! And have you watched Rambo 3 after 9/11/2001? Do you get the irony?
Political situation change, alliances shift, the masses are easily influenced.

Argh yes... The greater influence than tribal affiliation. The Common Enemy. It had made many strange bed fellows through out history. But alas. It's only temporary.

I've always maintained, that if you want to see a true brotherhood of man. If you want to see a sunni suicide bomber charging at the enemy while being covered by suppressive fire from American soldiers, while wearing a mass produced Chinese suicide vest with the latest Russian explosives.

All you need is an alien invasion.

But I digress.

easy to find Common Enemy. doesn't need to be alien at all. why do you think China is talking about joining TPP now? the enemy is within.

What I quoted in post #3492. Your whole piece.

Stating someone is making senseless statements doesn't make it so. It only amplifies it as an ad hominem attempt on your part unless you can point out why Doombreed's statements are what you paint them to be.

To be fair, his reply regarding my listed points 1-4 and dismissing them as reasons why the west doesn't like China, before condensing it down to "tribal" differences (which is both a cause and a result of points 1-4, among other things), is a rather confusing one.

That said I don't believe in making broad statements about a person's sense or lack of sense without referring to examples, nor do I believe in implying to them whether they should or shouldn't stay around on a particular board or not based on their views.
If one's view is dissenting and they have their arguments rebutted and attacked, then they're making a deliberate choice to stay on a board which may have predominant views hostile to theirs, and they have the freedom to post as much as others have a freedom to reply.

I think we are generally in agreement. I am not implying that Doombreed's premises and conclusion is sound, logically coherent or plausibly true but it is the onus on the part of the other side to make the case in their rebuttal. Offering ad hominem statements in reply is why having political discussions in this forum is so unproductive.
