Yeah because before he took power Chinese academia was just pro western brainwashing like in the early republican era.
There are many underlying reasons for domestic political issues during the Jiang Zemin era.
In the early stages of reform and opening up, China attracted a large influx of American capital, leading to the emergence of many fervent pro-American groups. This resulted in the first generation of Chinese students studying abroad after the reforms being extremely pro-American politically. To counterbalance this influence, China intentionally engaged with Japan, introducing Japanese capital to offset American influence. Consequently, pro-Japanese groups emerged in Shanghai in the early 21th century.
With the rise of domestic capital, I believe there is no doubt that Shanghai will once again shift its focus.

It’s turning into quite the drama, the conference arrangers are in full damage control:

in fact no Chinese scientist should be visiting the U.S. in this environment
They are still giving vague answers. CCF, please remove it from the list immediately.

her public background description is literally there, just read it.
Trigger much ?
Yes I read it, but you're avoiding my question. Why is her opinion important enough to be promoted in the first place? Are we supposed to be amazed by her Hudson institute pedigree? Lol WTF Is she someone special? What's the point of putting on her interview?

Just saying "read her bio" doesn't mean shit.

your the one who sounded triggered in the first place. by being obnoxious.
its a report from news media and this is a news thread, if you only want to see what you want to see, its upto you. but dont force your views on others or give any attention to it if youre not interested. there are options in this website like ignore button.. if it really triggers you alot. i use that ignore button to avoid obnoxious members too.

I'm genuinely really confused about the situation here. Can someone give me a simple run down of what has happened and why China is sanctioning the event? Thanks in advance.
NeurIPS has banned entities and person subject to U.S. government sanctions, such as Huawei, from submitting academic papers, prompting a countermeasure from the Chinese academic community. They must either treat everyone equally or sever ties with the entire Chinese academic community.

What the hell is going on. Too many scientists and engineers are dying in China in mysterious ways and too early. Even if they die, why would their names be scrapped?

Is Xi Jinping taking out CIA spies inside China?

I dont think US would be doing any assassination inside China, cause China can hit right back. So, the only one who can do this is the govr itself.
