Dont know how much heat it suffered in that fire, soome information will certainly surface but it could be much longer than that. If they need to change parts of heat weakened bulkhead it could take years. Could be better to change the recurring sewage problems at the same time...

More seriously, it's probably for the best if Ford gets a long period to overhaul its many problems. It was probably put into service prematurely and an overlong deployment isn't doing it any favors. But given how prone the US is at getting into military misadventures, I'm sure it'll be rushed into service early again.
Prolonged deployments (3 months over the 6 months it should have been) steers up the feelings.
Not to mention US military ain't the best when it comes to discipline in the first place (or the treatment of their men) either.
The most bewildering issue is how can they not get something as lowly as the toilets working on their super-duper brand new carrier, and if the toilets don't work, what other, much more critical system is designed/built with the same incompetence? There is the fact that for some reason the EMCAT can't launch the F-35, for starters. You'd think this would have been properly factored in at the design stage.
Examples such as this makes one wonder how much of a paper tiger the US military really is, especially when faced with a capable and well-equipped opponent. The current war in ME is not terribly flaterring to US military demonstrated capabilities imo.

Toilets failing on a ship isn't a big deal. What's unusual about Ford is that the plumbing is designed wrong so when one toilet clogs, all the toilets in that section are rendered unusable. It's the same thing with the EMALS - if one catapult loses power, they all do. Ford was designed wrong and they had to rip out systems from the next two ships in class to even finish it.
In the end, they ended up losing a perfectly functioning ship due to critical design failures. Trump is either ill informed or has completely not take into account that moral and capability matters in a long fight. Typical Trump, seriously how was he able to be successful for so long when he makes these kind of mistakes

Maybe. Could actually be shorter or longer. Souda Bay is not capable of repairing that ship. Its only there to do an assessment, quick fixes and give the crew a break and to rearm. There only a couple places in Europe (France and UK) that are capable of those repairs if they get beyond the quick fix. And if that happens, the US will just send it to the East Coast and to an available spot. In that case you are talking years for a repair.
I suspect the US will make do for a while with the ship as is. You will see it do a few months on station then constantly rotate back to Italy and Greece to swap crews, until such time as the US can lay it up for a couple years.
