Seems Bessent can't handle Li Chenggang. They say he appeared uninvited to an economic negotiation with the US where he has a major role representing China? Do they think they can pick our vice commerce minister? LOL Where's Ron Vara? Didn't they send him to Japan for the Plaza Accords and the Japanese had to take it when he threw paper planes at them to mock their helplessness? Now they talk about disrespect?
"Bessent also on Wednesday singled out a Chinese vice commerce minister, Li Chenggang, for particular criticism, referencing comments he made during an August visit to Washington. He said Li had shown up “uninvited.”
“Perhaps the vice minister who showed up here with very incendiary language on August 28 has gone rogue,” Bessent said during the press conference at Treasury. “This individual was very disrespectful,” he said, after earlier calling him “unhinged” in the CNBC event.
I truly wonder if Bessent is stupid enough to believe the things he says or if he knows what he's saying is retarded but he's gotta say something and that's just the best he can come up with in light of the irony of America being proven a trade war glass cannon.Bessent is not a good liar. Once the rare earth control card was played, it became clear there was no turning back. Trust between the two sides had vanished. Going back even further, perhaps by the time the US imposed its chip blockade on China, China had already lost all trust in the US, only to be forced to swallow its anger due to the reality gap. This guy talked tough when he was at his post in China. Now that he's stepped down, he really loosened the belt on his inner thoughts, and showed us he's quite sensible and not just some idiot Captain America type. I wonder what Bessent will say when he's done. Reveals that these Americans will absolutely do a job on an empty shell mindset with as much belief and conviction as a man told he's supposed chop down a tree by staring at it really hard.
