If you're going to debate you have to debate on facts. I said deposing the Japanese monarchy will be acting in the same vain as colonizers, I stated it won't go down well and will create resentment, this will make things difficult for China. EDIT: I think this chain of discussion is getting into rage-baiting territory, most rational human beings should be able to see the logic (or lack of, rather) in the statement quoted above. I will not reply further.

It's honestly very tiresome. This is like the 4th time this has happened in this thread. It doesn't contribute any new discoveries, knowledge or viewpoints but wastes loads of posts going back and forth that eventually devolve into insults. I'm surprised mods being so strict at other times have let this slide for so long. Well I think it's time now for mods to draw the red line once and for all.

Their emperor is a mascot at this point but a vital part of their history, it's for them to decide to get rid if they want to and not an outside force. If you try to destroy part of their culture you'll just create hostile neighbors and you'll end up like Russia. Anti-Chinese sentiment is a close second (sometimes equal) priority for both communities as well. The difference between the two countries is that in Malaysia, Malays can safely align with China against the West without being accused of selling out Malays to Chinese domination, because Malaysian Chinese are now a small and shrinking minority. Even then, these accusations still happen, like for example all of PM Najib Razak's projects involving China were attacked by Malay extremists as Chinese colonialism and several of them got cancelled after he lost the election. In Singapore, where Chinese are 70% of the population and the government has a generous policy of immigration preference for foreign ethnic Chinese to shore up Chinese numbers from shrinking, Malays will never align with China because both China and the west are considered immediate enemies to Singapore Malays.

In Brunei case it even more ironic because one of the Bruneian Sultans died in Nanjing and his grave is maintained to this day.

I made a joke in another thread about US giving up Taiwan but Japan didn't get the memo, people laughed. Maybe this lady will make my dream come true after all. I do hope she gets to keep her job long enough lol

The world is changing and Japan is in a crossroad, if they make the right choice and adapt their society to the new world then Japan may earn a more dignified position in the new world. The fact that they make the wrong choice again is both unsurprising and somewhat satisfying.

On a different note, I have some observation about the back and forth arguing in this thread. It seems some people on the one hand look forward to US being dethroned as global hegemon, yet on the other hand they fear China will become USA 2.0. Thus they dream up some arbitrary self imposed rules that somehow China will abide by.

Some people need to develop a more realistic view of the world. It is true that China will be much more pragmatic and much less blood thirsty than the US, however China is not some peace loving Teletubbies they imagined. In the final analysis the world is still a jungle and China will look after it's interest in any way possible.

According to your understanding, was destroying Nazi Germany also wrong? You can't simply lump all wars into the same category. The Chinese call people like you "white leftists" or "saints."
