Huawei has put MateTV on sale starting price at 8199 on JD

The interesting thing about this TV is that it use flagship Kirin chip (expected to be K9020), which is quite extraordinary for a TV.
But I guess the production is so high and cost is low enough that Huawei thinks its profitable to do so.

Omnivision has coming out with OV50R CMOS chip that will start mass production in 2026 Q1. I haven't seen too much more info than this.
In case usa decides to "sanction" Omnivision for ties to China, can we say Omnivision is Chinese enough for not to be affected by any of the american sanctions? I ask this because, OmniVision still has a major headquarter in California

Omnivision is owned by Will semiconductor, whose boss go invited to that meeting with Xi earlier this year (when he met all the tech execs). Omnivision has its chips produced at both SMIC and TSMC. China also has at least 2 other major CMOS suppliers in Galaxycore and Smartsens. There is no concerns here.

Like, this has been discussed many times. I really don't want to keep having to answer this type of questions over and over again.

Heyuan Gas's 2 billion yuan electronic special gas project has made key progress!​


Heyuan Gas has achieved key progress on its 2 billion yuan electronic special gases project, with both the Yichang and Qianjiang Electronic Specialty Gas Industrial Parks advancing as planned. As of September 23, production lines in both parks have been completed or are in trial operation, and product certifications are underway, with early engagement from major downstream semiconductor customers.

Qianjiang Park: All planned products have been developed. Electronic-grade hydrogen and carbon monoxide are in mass production and sales. Hydrogen chloride, chlorine, and carbonyl sulfide maintain stable output, with semiconductor customer certification now active. Seven key products including silane and nitrogen trifluoride are in trial production; full commercialization is expected by the second half of 2025.

Yichang Park: With a total investment of ¥2.018 billion, it's located in Hubei’s Yichang High-tech Zone. The project includes fluorine and silicon-based specialty gas and functional materials production lines, along with storage and filling systems.

Upon full completion and commissioning, the Yichang Electronic Specialty Gases and Functional Materials Industrial Park will achieve the following annual production capacities:

Tungsten Hexafluoride (6N): 500 tons
Photovoltaic Grade Trichlorosilane (3N): 80,000 tons

Construction began in August 2022, with commissioning completed in December 2024. The company obtained a renewed pollutant discharge permit on July 14, 2025, entering trial operation in August 2025.

The electronic specialty gases market requires high technical standards in purity, stability, and service—barriers Heyuan Gas has overcome through its Hubei-based cluster strategy and vertically integrated supply chain. Current focus is shifting toward cost reduction, supply chain efficiency, and creating sustainable cost advantages for customers while maintaining profitability.

Heyuan Gas has also made progress in unit efficiency and recycling technologies, which are being rolled out across both parks. Going forward, the company plans to boost R&D investment to drive growth and unlock potential for revaluation of its electronic specialty gas business.​

Institute of Semiconductors, Chinese Academy of Sciences: Breakthrough in Nitride-on-Chip Optical Communication​


the team of researchers Wang Junxi and Wei Tongbo from the Wide Bandgap Semiconductor R&D Center of the Institute of Semiconductors, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in collaboration with Researcher Shen Chao of Fudan University and Associate Professor Li Xiaohang of King Saud University of Science and Technology, have prepared a nitride on-chip solar-blind optical communication integrated device and built an on-chip optical communication integrated system that can transmit video signals in real time.

The research results were published in Laser & Photonics Reviews under the title "III-Nitride Micro-Array Integration for Photon Transceiver".

The -3dB communication bandwidth of the integrated device was increased to 451 MHz at a low current density of 30A/cm2 , the optical confinement of the integrated waveguide was improved by 51.9%, and the self-driven integrated detector exhibited a high power-on/off ratio (PDCR) of 6.51×105 and a responsivity of 73.3A/W. The integrated system demonstrated an on-chip optical communication rate of 200Mbps and nanosecond transient response capability (as shown in the figure below), fully demonstrating the application potential of nitride photonic integrated systems in the field of on-chip optical communications.

Moore Thread's IPO on the Science and Technology Innovation Board was successfully approved!​


On September 26, the initial public offering (IPO) application of MooreThread Intelligent Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd., a Chinese GPU manufacturer, was successfully reviewed and approved by the Shanghai Stock Exchange's Listing Review Committee. The Listing Committee stated that MooreThread (IPO) met the issuance conditions, listing conditions, and information disclosure requirements.

According to the prospectus, Moore Thread plans to raise 8 billion yuan to be used for Moore Thread's new generation of autonomous and controllable AI training and push integrated chip research and development projects, Moore Thread's new generation of autonomous and controllable graphics chip research and development projects, Moore Thread's new generation of autonomous and controllable AISoC chip research and development projects, and to supplement working capital.

Moore Threads, a well-known domestic GPU startup, currently has four generations of GPUs: "Su Di," "Chun Xiao," "Qu Yuan," and "Ping Hu." The fourth-generation "Ping Hu" GPU, launched in 2024, features a maximum frequency of 2 GHz, 8,192 shading cores, 512 tensor cores, 512 raster operation units, and 512 texture mapping units. The inter-chip interconnect rate has been increased to 800 GB/s, and the video memory capacity has been increased to 80 GB. This GPU also adds support for FP8 precision.

In addition, Moore Threads also launched the first-generation SoC "Yangtze River", a system-on-chip chip that integrates heterogeneous computing units such as "full-function GPU + CPU + NPU + VPU", with an 8-core CPU, a main frequency of 2.65GHz, a GPU with MUSA architecture, and an INT8 computing power of 50TOPS.​

In 2022, 2023, 2024 and January-June 2025, Moore Thread's operating income was approximately RMB 46 million, RMB 124 million and RMB 438 million, respectively, with an annual compound growth rate of 208.44%. From January to June 2025, the operating income was RMB 702 million, surpassing the annual revenue of the past three years.
