Europe tried to impose their beliefs on the rest of the world more than anyone else. That’s the difference. Again, was it about control out of insecurity or did they do it for fun? I’m giving the lesser of two evils. If you like the worst one…
This is the lesson I got out of 9/11 the immediate reaction in the couple of days after the attack. (Speaking only on a personal level, not some grand historian or some big theory on something.)
Remember Chairman Mao sayings? Political power comes out of the barrel of a gun.
How they were going on and on, about defending values, and a fight for to preserve "our society" or "way of life", they were hysterical.
That told me, they were different.
Chairman Mao, political power come out of the barrel of a gun.
They were different. Those few days after 9/11 seemed like the way they were talking that Western civilization rested on guns. They wanted to destroy Western civilization, the enemies of the United States. Therefore, guns will preserve Western civilization.
But that means Western civilization entirely based on guns for its survival.
That to me, as an ethnic Chinese, that identifies as fresh of the boat, that is totally nuts.
Judging from way they were talking right after 9/11, that was the truth.
Actually, want to say even more, could be the West just naive extremist, but one thing is certain, they do come across as incredibly insecure.
It is a complicated subject, and this post of mine was going to double or triple in size. Did not want to do that. So will leave it at that.
