The article does not state that the Chinese buddies were female only, nor does it make any mention of sexual interactions between students. It seems to say (my Chinese reading abilities are heavily atrophied) that on the sign up form used by the Chinese students to register for the buddy program, there is an option to select, "preference for opposite-gender study buddy," and it mentions the ratio of Chinese "study buddies," to foreign students was about 3:1 (which was apparently controversial, since it somehow implied Chinese students were inferior???).

If your claims were 100% accurate, I would imagine there'd be news of the entire school administration being fired, and then each member of the administration ending up murdered by angry citizens (or parents and relatives of the Chinese study buddies) in the following months.

Do you have source for the "pressured into having sex" accusation, in particular the "by the school admin" part? That would have been very serious criminal offences but I do not know of anyone indicted for such crimes. Nothing about such accusation in the Baidu piece you cited, either.

There might have been some Chinese students having crossed the line and had intimate relations with their "study buddies". One might even believe that the school admin have wished and wanted to benefit from such relations. But accusing that the school admin have pressured the Chinese students into having sex with anyone is a whole level beyond.

Wouldn't be the first time an incident becomes exaggerated/sensationalized and/or blown out of proportion by netizens. I can easily see how "some female students in a student buddy program where the majority of Chinese students were female complained about being pressured into engaging in sexual activities by foreign male students, to which the university administrators turned a blind eye," is altered by netizens to transform into "Chinese female students in an all-female student buddy program were systematically pressured into providing sexual services to foreign male students by the university administration."

Btw do you know anyone in Qingdao that can paint a clear picture for me? Do people there really worship Germany?
