Next Generation DDG and FFG thread (after 055, 052D, 054B)

Will the new DDG have a pub? Is alcohol allowed in the PLAN? If not it really schould be, would be much more fun then a sober cruise on a warship.

Even civilian officials can’t drink alcohol in pubs even on their free time and you want PLAN sailors to start drinking?

Is it going to be a successor class to the Type-055? Or will it complement the existing force structure and sit above the the Type-055.

After all, you would only need 1-2 such ships in any surface group, given a Theatre BMD or anti-stealth radar role.

Type 052 should be discontinued in terms of production and type 055 should become the new 052D in terms of numbers. Then this new CCG becomes the new command ship in a fleet.

There is no indication that Type 055 will become a true 052D successor or the 055 will be built en masse. I feel like the rumored new ~10kt general purpose destroyers will replace both Type 055 and Type 052D with the new CG serving as flagships. There also is the rumored new gas turbine frigate that is supposedly already under construction. IMO, we can expect to see the construction of these new classes in this 5YP along with 095 potentially getting into the serial stage.

All I'm hoping for for 055 is a slightly lengthened version with 128 cells

Like come on, 64 in the front and 64 in the back is just perfect

Or they could do a two-class cruiser like what the USN considered for CG(X) program before budget cuts and eventual cancellation. Their idea was a 14,000 ton sized escort cruiser with a stealthy hull design similar to the Zumwalt and a 23,000 ton BMD cruiser with conventional hull since such an air defense ship would need to have its radar on most of the time negating advantages of a stealthy hull. PLAN go for a similar force layout in the future with a fully stealthy(radar, acoustic and thermal) Type 055 successor as an escort "large destroyer" along with a similarly stealthy 9-10kt general purpose destroyer and the 20kt+ CG in a brand new class of warships for the PLAN.

Unfortunately the Zumwalt style tumblehome hull form is extremely space inefficient.
