@votran can you kindly shut the fuck up with the lame hyper nationalist macho shit? Especially when you are talking about inciting governments to violence.

This is real life, not the War Thunder forums. The PRC is not the US, and not Russia. Countries don't have balls to begin with. And if you actually want to fight an actual war or skirmish, grab a rifle and move right along. I doubt you even know what an army is, let alone ever serving in one.

ffs with the syckos. This is not a videogame, we just had a naval mishap.
you know this is real life ? good

then you should know in actual real life all the deter PRC got again US , soviet , india since 50s to this day come from where

answer : korean war , Zhenbao Island battle , sino-indian war 1962

what that mean ? that mean the world alway run by might make right , deter result alway be done by someone have balls hard enough to challenge enemy threat

nobody gonna deter anyone if no-one dare to challenge other threat

right now i don't see that will to challenge threat in china grovernment , a simple paper protection promise from US force PLAN and grovernment stuck with water cannon and ship ramming for decades

meanwhile US have no problem breaking china threat/red line so many time from missile deployment : korea , philipine , island behind taiwan , military drill with heavy weapon near china , even kick out china friendly president and jail him in philipines

and let me remind you this : you know the recent australia prime minister visit ? why do you think he do that right after first time PLAN navy warship cricle around his nation and pratice live fire there ?

To put it crudely: the Chinese would rather let the US overextend itself — preferably far away from Chinese shores — in lieu of expending more than necessary resources and bearing more than essential risks in expediting the decline, if not collapse of Pax Americana.

Operation Sindoor style measures obviously ain't the way.

In case you need something more visual to better understand China's approach:

From reading more of @votran's posts, it appears he is not necessarily concerned with the PLA, CMC and CPC acting or looking "soft."

He may very well be framing the Chinese authorities in a passive and negative light because he hopes to gaslight the Chinese into doing something reckless and potentially self-destructive.

He is after all from a country at odds with China over the Paracels and Spratlys.
lol you talk like china not yet have enough negative light already

and if i want china doing something reckless and stupid then i gonna be similar as so many dumbass here repeatly call for preemtive strike , or nuke japan or invade taiwan without destroy semi-conductor industry first

that is rekless and stupid , not sinking some pinoy ship

He is after all from a country at odds with China over the Paracels and Spratlys.

actually they called me "traitor" here because i favor china-friendly idea , want my country enjoy the benefit like canada got for like ~100 years since US become big world ruler/bully instead of keep stucking between rock and hard place like right now can't even modern out military equipment because there are no where to buy after 2022 and no one trust us

If China becomes a big world ruling bully then I hope all PLAN ships sink in embarrassing accidents.
If China really becomes like that, it won't happen.

They'll be deployed in countless military operations

gradually rusting, unable to be properly maintained

because they'll be needed for the next military operation

and then gradually breaking down

just like the U.S. Navy today.

Can’t help but feel that there has been so much winning for the first seven months of the year that people can’t take setbacks anymore. Maybe it is a bad thing.
Agreed. China is not immune to blunders and these things can happen when ships are playing bumper cars at high tempo. The USN, widely regarded as the benchmark navy have also suffered multiple collisions for even more idiotic reasons.

We must not get carried away. Just because China have been good at winning lately, doesn't mean that they are flawless. They still can make mistakes. This is indeed a blunder between the CCG and the PLAN in the SCS. It is how they learn from these mistakes that is more important.

Before the Ukraine War, the Russian military was also hyped up to be an unstoppable force. But then the war exposed Russia to many blunders. The West was quick to jump on them. Most importantly, Russia didn't care too much about the embarrassments, learned their painful lessons, got their acts together, and soldiered on.

That's how real conflicts work. Shit can and will happen. China would have to take it on the chin and work on improvements. The worse way to move forward is the Indian example of coming up with excuses and lies to deflect the issues, and then learn nothing from their mistakes.

this blunder and embarrassment will not happen if china don't trying to solve problem with two hand tied behind their back

what the benefit or good out come of this 2 hand tied behind the back maritime patrol policy extractly ?

when will china expect those pinoy gonna stop doing this ? 20 years later ?

Well you chose the golden handcuffs. You wanted trade with the US and they don't want anyone to buy weapons from their opponents including Russia. So you will have to buy overpriced trashy US gear like a champ to, huh, straighten out the trade balance. Yeah that is it.

If you were smart about it you would just buy the weapons from Russia anyway like India does and claim you need them to protect yourself from China. That is always a good excuse to avoid the US weapons tax. They need you as a counter to China in the region along with many other countries, so you just play along but never concede your sovereignty.
There is other US crap to buy including energy or civilian airplanes.

Anyway there are other options than the US. South Korea and Japan make decent ships, most infantry equipment can be licensed and locally produced so you just pick and choose, and as for aircraft maybe KF-21.

In fact South Korea is a good model for you. They are trying to make everything in house. Problem is your industry is still nowhere near that capable and won't be for a generation.

I would just buy Russian myself. They also license basically anything to third parties.

Ok hear me out... I have a hypothesis (based on all deduction, no evidence) that neither Chinese shipped intended on ramming anyone. 3 things to keep in mind:
1) In videos prior to the ramming, the video shows the Philipino boat to be very close to 164, but further away from (and ahead of) 3104, 3104 could have the intention of catching up to it.
2) If 164 actually rammed the Philipino boat, then given the size (and height) difference, the boat would capsize at best, and broken down in 2 (or more) at worst. There will be casualties from the capsizing for sure. Chinese Navy has not shown a willingness to use such tactic and force.
3) the boat is too small for good visual from 164 bridge, if they are as close as one of the earlier videos have shown, then most likely 164 bridge doesn't actually see the boat visually, again, making the intentional ramming aspect of the operation very suspicious.

Based on those 3 trains of thoughts, I believe 3104 wants to chase the boat and close the distance, with 164 wanting to block, but no intention of ramming. Here's my hypothesis:
- The Philipino boat sped up and overtook 164 while being very close to it, and cut across its bow at very close distance
- 3104 was tunnel visioned on the chase and didn't realize how close they are to 164, and couldn't make it in front of 164
- 164 was more or less travelling straight this whole time, but didn't have good visual on the boat itself
