The worst thing is that CCG people were standing at the front of the ship until DDG 164 hit the ship, there might be casualties, I don't know if they manage to jumped out
PR disaster lol
Not worth the damage to the destroyer for these stupid soft power games. SCS situation is ridiculous
Military should push for more hard power. Power up your AESA power and fully blast these Philippine's ships until their electronics get fried and the crew are forced to surrender if they don't want to suffer health damage
Good opportunity to slice that salami
That's not how it works. 164 came in like a crashing ball (pun intended). No one is to blame but 164.Philippine Coast Guard ship that was being chased off and caused the accident between the Chinese coast guard and PLAN destroyer.
Is it as big of a PR disaster as gun totting marines getting their fingers chopped off by axe wielding coast guard soldiers, or out of control destroyer almost sunk while entering another country’s territorial vessel because the captain has gone rogue?
Just one collision and people are acting like this is the end of the world…
Maybe not really a PR disaster, but there definitely needs to be a lesson to be learned. Whoever in charge of 164 is obviously hotheaded and will not make the correct decisions if a wartime conflict actually occurs. And they need to be punished.
The reason for overreaction (not that it's justified) is due to the perceived increased Philippines belligerence and arrogance that some of us myself included want the Philippines to be taught a lesson in what hard power looks, feels like.Of course. But I just think that some people here are overreacting.
Because this is a modern DDG equipped with the most advanced AESA and VLS systems, it was supposed to be responsible for fleet air defense or to launch ASBMs at the enemy fleet, rather than engaging in foolish ramming maneuvers and causing losses and casualties due to mistakes. To put it bluntly, its "value" exceeded that of the entire Philippine Navy, rather than just a trivial finger. Is it as big of a PR disaster as gun totting marines getting their fingers chopped off by axe wielding coast guard soldiers, or out of control destroyer almost sunk while entering another country’s territorial vessel because the captain has gone rogue?
