Not exactly the same case, though. The U.S. carriers are nuclear-powered (yes they still need resupply for aviation fuel, ammunition, food & water, but fuel for propulsion). Also, the U.S. has bases all over the world to help with resupply.

Large-sized AOEs like the 901 and Supply classes aren't exactly cheap to procure and operate, more so if they are built to mainly military standards.

Besides, the PLAN is not expected to sail their CSGs beyond the 2IC for extended durations for the forseeable future, meaning that they aren't as concerned with having resupply and replenishment runs while being too far away from home.

This factor likely contributes to their decision to procure more medium-sized 903A AOEs instead of the large-sized 901 AOE (at least for the time being), as they would be cheaper and easier to build and operate, and that they can be made available in greater numbers and at a quicker rate.

There appears to be more than one new hull under construction at Wuhu as well. I believe we could be looking at a new production run of four to six vessels at least. We should see more imagery relatively soon.

Said to be two new 903A AOEs under construction, location unknown. Unsure whether this pair is part of the ~6x new-batch 903A AOEs you mentioned eariler.
