Apparently the father and brother of Anna Kwok, whom is charged by NSL but currently on the lamb , attempted to withdrawal money out of her accounts after visiting her in the US. Well that is a violation of security laws so they both got arrested and facing 7 years in jail. These types of law are pretty common around the world.

Once a while, when the Chinese national anthem were played in public here (say schools, malls, stadiums, games, etc.), you see bunch of my supposed fellow city folks (just being polite here) turning their backs and try to humiliate both the anthem (which is related to struggle against Japanese imperialism, originally a KMT invention) and the modern post-1911 Chinese nation-state (CPC or not). In other words, those black-shirted roaches are not just say no to the CPC, they are also declaring themselves to be enemies of the modern unified Chinese nation-state regardless of KMT, CPC, or whoever rules the very state representing the Chinese nation we imagine/remember ourselves as. Therefore, it is only reasonable to compel them to go back to their British colonial masters and never return, just like MAGA Americans telling Chinese to go back to China and stop stealing Americans' jobs/IP. As with the roaches' livelihood in the UK, it is responsibility of their colonial masters to provide ideological and moral comforts.

I mean they probably all have that holier-than-thou attitude that makes people want to trip them up at every opportunity they get.

No kidding, these guys treat it like a religion. The “righteousness” of Democracy, the “holiness” of Western countries. At least with Christianity, God is an almighty being. These guys want us to look up to Liz Truss, Biden, Trump, Trudeau? Are you FFF kidding?

Canada Paradise Lost. Canada government is dragging feet to renew work permit or to provide perm residence permit. Finally one guy realized this:

While Hong Kong’s political landscape in recent years was one of the reasons the former journalist chose to move abroad, he felt that the freedom he experienced in Canada was “a bit useless.”

“I think the reason why many Hongkongers wanted more freedom is that they wanted to shape the future direction of society. But when we are in a city that does not belong to us, even if we have the freedom to speak up, it is purely just talk,” he said.

He is almost half way there in terms of understanding "democrazy."

Another awakening
Alex Chu, 41, returned to Hong Kong in July last year, shortly after obtaining his Canadian permanent residency.

The software engineer and his wife moved to Toronto in early 2022. He told HKFP in an interview that after living there for six months, they noticed that the crime rates were high and they did not feel comfortable living in an area with legal drug injection sites and many homeless individuals.

Not surprised. This was 4 years ago: Hong-Kong Protests

The western media and politicians, like Canada's Justin Trudeau, were high on crack dreaming "wealthy and well-educated immigrants from Hong Kong".

There are 300 thousands Canadian citizens living, as permanent residents, not visitors, in Hong Kong. Did Justin Trudeau even know why this many his people left Canada for Hong Kong? To make it even more irony, majority of these 300 thousands people actually came to Canada from Hong Kong.
