I don't see any major buildup of US forces near Iran despite some of the comments in the media about B-2 Bombers at Diego Garcia. Any strikes on Iran would require a significant buildup of naval and air assets in the region. I doubt we are seeing that, but who knows with Trump in power.

I mean what specifically are you expecting, lol? They have 2 CSGs en route, B-2s deployed to DG, plus Israel will contribute its forces, and apparently C-17s transporting extra AD to Bahrain/Qatar. They're fighting Iran, not China.

I believe they had six carrier strike groups around Iraq in 2003, and unless these are going to be very limited strikes I would assume you need at least that much fire power to deal with Iran today.

Well for one 2003 was a full invasion and campaign to completely destroy the Iraqi govt, not presumably strikes limited to destroying the nuclear program, and 2 there's still over a month left until Trump's deadline.

Trump and his advisors probably believe they can bomb the other side into submission. Similar to what he said about the Houthis about dropping bombs until the they stop the blockade

As per custom, Israel is acting like the ceasefire agreement doesn't apply to them, whereas Hezbollah is remaining silent.
BEIRUT (AP) — The Israeli military struck a building in Beirut’s southern suburbs early Tuesday, killing at least three people, in an attack it said said it targeted a member of the Hezbollah militant group.
The airstrike came without warning days after Israel launched an attack on the Lebanese capital, Beirut, on Friday for the first time since a ceasefire ended fighting between Israeli forces and the Hezbollah militant group in November. The Israeli military had warned residents in the crowded suburbs before the attack after two projectiles were launched from southern Lebanon, which Hezbollah denied firing.
At least seven other people were wounded in the airstrike, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.

The Israeli military said in a statement the latest strike targeted a Hezbollah member who had been helping the Palestinian Hamas group in the Gaza Strip in attacks against Israel. It said the airstrike was “under the direction of the Shin Bet,” Israel’s domestic intelligence agency.
