It's not. If the CGIs and the short video are to be believed, it looks like the H-20 actually uses a cranked kite design, not a straight up flying wing.

Isn't cranked kite worse for stealth?
Yes.
Cranked kite may have slightly smaller peaks in the frontal arc however it has overall worse performance against other angles.
F-117 Pro Max. This is worse stealth without even supersonic speed as a debatable tradeoff. Internal volume could be huge though, definitely better if developed into a tanker or transport.
Like, Lockheed Martin ATB proposal(lost to future Northrop B-2). Or recent stealthy tanker proposals(which most certainly can be repurposed into bombers).

If LM had won this bid, then USAF would’ve had a better relationship with NG going into the 90s (and likely a soured one with LM due to ATB overruns).

There’s been some chatter about going back to the drawing board, not clear to what extent (full concept overhaul, requirements changes fitting to revision of the original design), but really doesn’t even take that to see the drawing on the wall here. It’s now clear with the current timeline of capabilities development by the time the original H-20 we thought we were going to get came into service it wouldn’t fit the future combat doctrine the PLAAF is shifting to. Investment into a very big very expensive stealth bomber that doesn’t fit into future fighting concepts doesn’t make sense. They almost certainly still need a very big very expensive stealth bomber still but clearly at least some if not all of the requirements are going to need some rethinking.
I remember Ayi recently saying the H-20 is "soon", but I cannot for the life of me find that Weibo comment (maybe it got deleted).

Imo, now that the J-36 has been unveiled, the H-20 needs to be able to reach the continental US in order to justify its development.
