I don't really follow Go but I am seeing this trending on weibo and its making my blood boil.
So its China's Ke Jie vs South Korea's Byun Sang-il for the LG cup.
South Korea "won" 2-1 but not an actual game was won by the Korean. Instead Byun relied to rule-lawyering some stupid made up non-game rules by the Korea Association that DQ'd Ke Jie the first time and the second time, Ke Jie just had enough and walked away from the game.
I am old enough to recall the 2002 world cup where South Korea "beat" Italy and Spain in some of the most rigged shit ever. With South Korean's these guys will do anything to cheat their way in. Don't be fooled thinking they ever had any more honor or shame than China.

Cut Korea some slack. Samsung already destroyed and even LG's attempt at making a LLM went nowhere. Let them have their fake Go wins... Its not like it really means much when Katago on the lowest end GPU is already superhuman level... China needs to focus on winning the AI race and getting to ASI first. Winning at Go, like sports, dont matter in the grand scheme of things.
Pretty sure that was just a psyop from China itself. Not a single person was charged in the aftermath, which wouldn't be the case if there was dirty American money involved.
The goal was to counteract the strong fear of covid in the public, because when opening up, there will inevitably be the same number of deaths as in a seasonal flu (few 1000s). If psyop engineering is not used however, people would have been unduly scared and maybe stirred up trouble.
I don't really see a need to lower the firewall either, but it's not going to be a big deal if it's gone. There's much more Chinese net users than US ones.
Lowering firewall puts China and US netizens on almost equal footing. The better strategy is to expand the global coverage of China's firewall while lessening the traffic inside US' firewall.
