It's war. Of course it's fair game killing someone who helps develop your enemies' weapons lol
Non-combatants are fair game. Yet another Pandora's Box has been opened.
Is this actually even true though? Feels like Russia would make a big complaint about it. Granted Russia has been sporadically attacking members of the Ukrainian intel community since pretty much day one, but they're not used to lose anyone on their side.

Intelligence used to at least conceal their covert killings. But now that Ukraine is screaming their success from the rooftops, this creates a legal precedence for all sorts of ways civilians can be targeted. It's war. Dunno where everyone suddenly got the idea that military/MIC-related personnel is not "fair" game. Western PR I guess
Lol that won't lead to a nuclear war.

As I said, it's war. No legal precedent needs to be set because war is always inherently "illegal" because one's legal war is another's illegal war. Legalities are meaningless, the only law that matters is the law of the jungle. If you are strong, you are legal, if you are weak, you are illegal. Where do you draw the line at contributing to the war? Does paying taxes make someone a valid target? After all, their money goes into procurement.
I understand what you mean and I agree. The concept of war crimes is an oxymoron; the only thing that matters is victory. As I said, it's war. Also wtf with your analogy. I am sure you see the tiny difference between simply paying taxes and directly developing weapons to kill someone
That is assuming they actually killed someone. Kiev "independent" is a particularly unreliable source.I understand what you mean and I agree. The concept of war crimes is an oxymoron; the only thing that matters is victory.
But isn't Ukraine being incredibly stupid by going public with this information? Russia has escalation dominance and they now have an excuse to be as brutal as they want. By right from might, Russia can simply declare all Ukrainian taxpayers valid targets because nobody can enforce the rules against them. That's why I said a Pandora's Box has been opened.
Even if the killing never happened, saying they assassinated a scientist is incredibly foolish. They would be taking on all the repercussions without getting any of the benefit. That is assuming they actually killed someone. Kiev "independent" is a particularly unreliable source.
Not really, Russia can't majorly act on something that was only reported on one fake news channel. It's like when at the start of the Lebanon war, someone on Hezbollah side announced Israel's air force chief had been killed, when in reality it was just his house being struck.Even if the killing never happened, saying they assassinated a scientist is incredibly foolish. They would be taking on all the repercussions without getting any of the benefit.
